It is tricky to feel that excitement when sometimes you enter your new home and it is not quite as clean a slate as you had hoped. Paintwork is marked, carpets are dirty and need cleaning and you have been left with appliances that are in need of a little TLC. We have put together a quick handy guide to restoring your ‘new to you’ appliances for those very moments.
Ovens are often the most difficult to clean. It is always one of those jobs that take two hours too long once we get started! We have broken the cleaning down into hob, oven, and oven glass.
Put old newspaper on the floor by your oven and using a dry scourer, knock and dislodge any large crusted on dirt. Brush onto the newspaper and bin! Using the dry method first saves you finding big slimy lumps of somebody else cooking.
Once you have got the easier bits off, use bicarbonate of soda and use generously all over the oven. Spray a little water over until damp. Make a paste from the bicarb and water and use an old toothbrush to get on the tricky wire racks and back of the oven and leave overnight. Although it takes longer it makes the task much easier and bearable.
Rinse thoroughly in the morning, again put newspaper down and knock all the dirt onto that. scrubbing should now be of minimum effort and the oven as clean as new!

Glass door
The glass can be the trickiest. Find the cooker manual either in the house hopefully, many makes nowadays will be online. Take apart the glass very carefully and clean with a strong degreaser and glass cleaner. rinse well and allow to dry before putting back together.
